First Eligibility Check... Check!

9/22/2015

Hi there Parents!

We are 5 weeks into the school year, and the students are now halfway through the quarter. This is an important juncture because they have the first eligibility check for extra-curricular activities. Grades were posted yesterday at 8am. Students who are failing courses or have less than a 2.0 have 5 days to get caught up. They are not allowed to participate during this time, but at the end of the 5 days if they get their grades up, they can be eligible to participate until the end of the quarter.

It is a pretty vital time to check the progress of your students in their courses to make sure that they are progressing on schedule. It is a good time to make a catch up plan if things are not going well. If you have any questions at all, please contact me!

Sincerely, Amanda

District Wide Technical Difficulties

Hi Parents,
Just wanted to keep you up-to-date on a few technology complications happening. They are in the process of being resolved, but we may still have a bit of a rocky road ahead of us. This is not only limited to Distance Education students either.

First, the district has recently implemented a new internet filtering system, which will better protect students, but may take time to function smoothly.

Second, there is a brand new online delivery system for the district, and as with any new system, there are glitches that the IT department are in the process of working on it.

Glitches are rapidly diminishing, and issues seem to be resolving themselves soon, so I am hopeful that all will be smooth soon!

Thanks, Amanda

Welcome to a New School Year!

Hi Parents,
Hope this post finds you well and ready to kick off a new school year! As we begin the Fall 2015 semester, there are a few key things to note:

  • New Learning Management System - We have a new system of delivery for our online courses. It is called Canvas. It is very user friendly! For the moment, we don't have direct parent access, but soon will have the ability for parents to observe their child's progress through the courses. For now, you can access courses through the following links. Just choose the course you need access to...

Language Arts 10
Health
Language Arts 9
Intro to Art

  • Communication is Vital - I can not stress enough that students need only to reach out if they need something or have a question. Please encourage them to no hesitate to reach out!
  • Get Access to PowerSchool - Your school secretary will have the information that you need to access your student's grades on PowerSchool. Checking regularly will let you know how your student is progressing in the course.

Let's get this semester started, shall we? Looking forward to working together!
Sincerely, Ms. A
