MR-81

The MR-81 Virus is a figment of Ms. A's imagination and part of a simulation to see how an infectious disease can travel through a population, in this case, our Health class.

The MR-81 virus is...
  • communicable (infectious)
  • transmitted by direct contact (email in this case :) )
  • spreading among the online Health students

Will it to spread to everyone?
How can such epidemics be prevented?
This chart depicts the final results of how the virus spread this semester.

Simulation Results...

What do we know about the MR-81 virus now that the simulation has been running for a few days? Is this virus very contagious based on its behavior in the simulation? Can it be prevented?
Review the graphs to find out!

Transmission

There are 5 basic ways:

    1. Person-to-person
    2. Foodborne
    3. Airborne
    4. Bloodborne
    5. Vectorborne (insects)

MR-81 is passed by person-to-person email contact.

At-Risk Populations

For this sim, exposure & checking your messages regularly are highest at risk.

Typically, most at-risk for infectious diseases are:
• elderly
• children 5 and under
• those with immune
   deficiencies

• frequent exposure
