I would love to meet with as many parents as possible at this week's District-wide parent conferences! Research shows that when parents and teachers work as a team for the success of the student, the likelihood of success is greatly improved. I am using VolunteerSpot to organize our upcoming Sign-ups.

Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:

Now, we are rolling...

Hi Parents,

We are 2 weeks into the semester now, and things are really ramping up! Students should be done with introductions and starting on the coursework. There are still a few schedule changes happening, so there are a few coming in and out of courses, but for the most part everyone is where they need to be. Here are the announcements for this week, with a few key reminders for students: Week 3 Announcements.

There are a few key habits that you can help to instill here at the beginning to support your student...
  • keeping track of what assignments are due when
  • checking for feedback from the teacher
  • communicating when questions and frustration arises
  • logging in regularly

The last one, in particular, is vital. If they are not logging in regularly, then they will be spending significant (and wasted) time reorienting themselves each time they do login. Encourage them to stay on top of it! :) Watch PowerSchool for progress, and if you see them slipping, help them catch up.

As always, contact me with any questions at all!
Sincerely, Amanda

Hi Parents,
Hope this post finds you well and ready for the second part of the school year! As we begin the Spring 2016 semester, there are a few key things to note:

  • Canvas is the Learning Management System for courses - It is very user friendly! For the moment, we don't have direct parent access, but soon will have the ability for parents to observe their child's progress through the courses. For now, you can access courses through the following links. Just choose the course you need access to at the bottom of this post.
  • Communication is Vital - I can not stress enough that students need only to reach out if they need something or have a question. Please encourage them to no hesitate to reach out!
  • Get Access to PowerSchool - Your school secretary will have the information that you need to access your student's grades on PowerSchool. Checking regularly will let you know how your student is progressing in the course.

Let's get this semester started, shall we? Looking forward to working together!
Sincerely, Ms. A
